 GHOST CAR

Ghost Car  was a studio project band from Southern Oregon, with Bill Newman (guitars, bass) and Tony Mullins (vocals, drums). Both are former members of the Southern Oregon rock band, Born Naked. Formed in 1998, Ghost Car produced two albums, Sound Travels (1999) and Driveways (2002).

Sound Travels, consist of 12 songs in various mainstream styles of the era (1990's) including elements of acoustic rock, experimental pop, ambient and world beat. This album was recorded during 1998-1999, in a garage and spare room, using a Fostex open reel 8 track tape machine and mastered to DAT. The duo had been performing and recording heavier rock throughout the 90's, and were looking to experiment and write songs in other "current" styles and work with other production techniques, with more focus on writing and arranging and using unique embellishments. The songs were about life as a road trip through the seasons, the characters you meet, adventures taken and life lessons learned.

Driveways, was a change in direction featuring a progressive rock sound, similar to bands like Rush, Yes and Genesis, with a bit of Led Zeppelin, mixed with current rock styles of that time. Written and recorded during 2000-2001, Driveways features 7 songs with longer and more complex arrangements. Once again recorded in the same garage and spare room, but this time recorded digitally, allowing for more tracks and more ideas to be tried, plus better sound quality. Song themes focused on learning to make lifes choices within an experience you did not choose. The longer track arrangements featured extended instrumental sections with more guitar solos and embellishments along with more complex backing vocals, creating a fuller sound.
